Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser

Sharon Hassall


Sharon is the Bishop's Adviser for safeguarding children and adults, with responsibility for casework, advice on protection matters and the support and supervision of those who have offended against vulnerable groups. Sharon does this work in liaison with parishes and the statutory agencies.

Listening line: 0845 120 4553. This is a special helpline that has been set up for those who have been affected either directly or indirectly by abuse in a church or cathedral setting. The helpline is staffed by the Church’s Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS) - an independent safeguarding charity - and is available seven days a week. You may be asked to leave a message but will be called back. Calls will always be handled sensitively and confidentially.

 

Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (Training and Practice)

Rachael Campion 

 

Rachael joined the team in July 2017 and is the training lead. She is also responsible for the management and delivery of safeguarding training across the Diocese and advises on all aspects of the safeguarding policy.

Safeguarding Administrator

Julie Grimshaw

 

Julie is the safeguarding administrator and works closely with the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisors in the coordination, planning and monitoring of all aspects of safeguarding work and training within the Diocese. Julie is also the central point of contact for all Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enquiries. Julie works part-time and is usually in the office 8:15am – 4:15pm Monday to Thursday.
